Township of Ocean, Ocean County, New Jersey

Community Notice - First Aid Services

Thursday, September 18, 2014

In order to maintain superior emergency medical services for the community, the Township has entered into an agreement that will supplement the services of Waretown First Aid. Like many volunteer public safety agencies in the state and across the nation, maintaining volunteer membership is a challenge as a result of difficult economic conditions and the increasing training demands being placed on volunteers.

While the township values the hard work and dedication of the first aid volunteers, we understand that most of the volunteers work during the day and are not able to respond to calls on a consistent basis.

Patient care is of utmost importance and the agreement entered into by the Township will greatly assist the volunteers with providing a quality emergency medical service to our deserving community.

A "for profit" or paid ambulance company called Pro Care will be assisting Waretown First Aid respond to calls. Pro Care will respond to calls for medical assistance Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 am – 7:00 pm in addition to providing mutual aid when needed. The supplemental coverage being furnished by Pro-Care allows the township to maintain superior emergency medical services.

Being a "for profit" service, Pro Care will assess a fee for medical services provided to residents, however, residents are NOT responsible for direct payment of these cost. Pro Care will directly bill the health insurance of any resident they provide services. Pro Care will NOT bill residents directly and residents will NOT be responsible for paying Pro Care any balance or deductibles.

Also, Pro Care must assume the cost of the emergency medical services for those residents without health care coverage. Residents who utilize Pro Care will receive a statement in the mail but it is for informational purposes only and not an invoice or request for payment.

Please email or call the township clerks office if you should have any questions or concerns. The clerk can be reached at (609)693-3302, extension 233 or at clerk@twpoceannj.gov
