Accident Reports

The Ocean Township Police Department has digitalized its crash reports through a partnership with the Carfax Police Crash Assistance Program. The reports are stored electronically in a secure database and available for purchase online.

Accident reports are generally prepared by patrol and traffic safety officers and are therefore subjected to a review process. This process causes the release of records to be delayed. Anyone requesting a report should first call the Police Division’s Records Section to ascertain if the report is ready for release. The number to contact for this is 609-693-4007.

Generally, you should expect that it will take five business days for your report to be available for release.

Handicap Placards

There are two different types of Handicapped Placards:

• A Temporary Placard, which is valid for 6 months and can be obtained through the Records Bureau
• A Permanent Placard/License Plate, which is valid for 3 years and must be obtained through the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission.

For those in need of Temporary Handicapped Placards while the Records Department is closed due to the #COVID19 situation, we have established the following procedure:

1. Mail Completed application signed by a Doctor to:

ATTN Records
50 Railroad Avenue
Waretown, NJ 08758

or

Deliver the completed application signed by a Doctor to:

Township of Ocean
50 Railroad Ave.
Waretown, NJ 08758
*** In front of Townhall and place in the "drop box" ***

2. Include a personal check made out to “NJMVC” in the amount of $4.00. This check cannot be made out to Ocean Township.

3. We will then mail the temporary placard to you via US Postal Service.
