OCEAN TOWNSHIP POLICE – PROJECT “LIFE LINE”

The Ocean Township Police Department announces the following Public Service available to our Senior Citizens and those that are physically disabled.

Project “LIFE LINE” is a program initiated by the Ocean Township Police Department for the many Senior Citizens and physically disabled residents of Ocean Township who live alone.  The Ocean Township Police are concerned about these residents and have established a program known as “LIFE LINE”.

How the program works

The resident will be required to telephone Ocean Township Police at every morning before 10:00 a.m. to let us know that all is well.  If the resident has not called in by 10:00 A.M., Ocean Township Police will place a call to that resident.  If there is no answer, a police officer will be dispatched to the residence to check on that citizen’s well being.

When the police officer responds to the residence and the Life Liner does not answer the door the officer will access the residence through a secure method and render assistance if needed to the resident.

This program is very effective for those who are ill, injured or disabled and live alone regardless of age and would like to be checked on.  The program works well when it is utilized by our residents.

For additional information and/or applications, contact Ocean Township Police at (609) 693-4007.

Lock Box Program

The Lock Box Program is intended to provide Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) access to your residence in the event of an emergency in which you are unable to open the door.  A key to your residence will be stored in a secure metal storage device, similar to a realtor’s lock box, near the entrance to your residence.  The access code to the lock box will be available only to Police, Fire, or EMS personnel and will be used only during an emergency.

How much does it cost?

Those who meet the targeted criteria (above) do not have to pay anything to participate in the program.  All participants will have to provide a spare key to be placed in the lock box.

How do I know this program is safe?

An officer from the police department will install the device, demonstrate how the lock operates, and answer any questions you may have.  The four-digit combination on the lock box will be available only to responding emergency personnel.
